Fire Chief John Robert Ray was recently selected as one of four finalists in the Golf Digest Open Challenge. He survived the cuts from a pool of 73,000 entries down to the final four. The contest is for a chance to play a round of golf with Michael Jordan and two other celebrities on the US Open's Bethpage course. If he gathers enough votes to win the contest, he will play his round the week before the US Open. His experience on the Bethpage course will be taped and used by NBC to help interpret the rules during the actual playing of the US Open.
